I took this photo in 2012 on a summer trip to Seward, Alaska. This common mergansers (female) were trying to cross over near the Russian River Ferry. This is where the Russian and Kenai River meet south of Seward. The water really is that green; it flows from the glaciers and mountain range near the area.
